It is a genus of plants native to South America and belongs to the Rubiaceae family.

Main uses: for cinchona are the common flu, for the stomach and for relaxation. Still use for flavoring. Contains quinidine and quinine.

According to the European Product Evaluation Committee we use 1g. at a time with a total daily dose that does not exceed 3g.

The bark is harvested by hand . It takes place in dry conditions from July to November. In order to preserve the plant and prevent deforestation, only the bark is collected and dried.After harvesting, the bark regrows after 2 to 3 years, depending on climatic conditions.
