An antique French treen miniature hand held mirror. This was probably originally part of a travelling vanity set / necessaire. Now a charming addition to a collection of miniature novelties or a perfect accessory for an antique doll.

Measures 3 1/2" (8.9 cm) x 1 3/16" (3 cm). The mirror measures 1 5/8" (4.2 cm) x 7/8" (2.2 cm).

In good antique condition. The wooden frame is not a perfect oval at the top of the mirror, one side has a flatter edge. There are some marks on the wood including one on the mirror side of the handle. There is some light wear to the varnish on the wood.
The silvering has started to lift away from the backing of the mirror which is what has produced the beautiful aged appearance. You can still see a clear image in the mirror. |
