With a shiny teal velvet, these handmade original babouche have a diamond symbol embroidered in red, yellow, green and blue, a design that references frogs which are symbols of fertility and magic in the Amazigh culture. The blue symbolizes the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean; the green represents nature and the Atlas mountains; the yellow represents the sand of the Sahara desert. The 'Free Man' which is the meaning of the Berber word 'Amazigh', the Berbers own name for themselves, is portrayed by the bold red color which is also the color of life, and of resistance.

These handmade teal embroidered babouche are a personal favorite of mine, they were gifted to me by a close friend but I never had the pleasure of wearing them because they are not my size. By selling them I hope to spread the beautiful Berber culture and its unique designs

Note: the right foot pair has a small stain on the inside as shown in the pictures, otherwise the pair is brand new.
