Tom Caldwell's inspiration comes from years of travel in the French and English countryside with his wife and two daughters. He photographs buildings and landscapes on sight, often pulling along side the road to shoot a building or cottage as the light falls upon the angles in just the right manner.

An architect by profession and an artist by hobby. Caldwell paints in egg-tempera -- one of the oldest mediums in art history. Appropriately, his art is rich with the detail and realism so often associated with early painting. This medium allows him to etch the fine strokes and marks of age that render such striking character in his artwork.

This manor is at the end of a curved lane evokes the quiet English countryside. The lane is edged on own side by a stone wall and the other side is lined with verdant trees that lead across the meadow behind the cottage up a hill inviting a walk where one might meet sheep pasturing.

The stone from of the manor is tied into the reddish tans of the walls lining the lane, marking the edge of the manor's lawn are highlighted by the muted burgundy front door and candle lit window of the next home.
The Inner matt of this 'call' to sit down for an afternoon tea or English dinner is hand labelled and signed.

The gold gilded frame with its dark brown inset, cream color marbled outer matt leads effectively through dark brown, tan, and cream inner mats to bring out all of the charm and of the rural English countryside.
