Histoire Naturelle des Oiseaux Exotiques

1836

This is an extraordinarily selection of prints from a RARE and beautiful work on exotic birds by C.L.Lemaire, his most important work.

The superb hand-coloured plates were created based on Pauquet’s and were engraved by Pauquet himself. Pauquet was the illustrators of a number of very popular works including "Modes et Costumes Historiques" and the present illustrations are from his most successful work.

The plates feature exotic and rare Birds of Paradise, Hummingbirds, Parrots (including some Australian cockatoos), Toucans, Cardinal Blue-jay artistically arranged "d'apres nature".

The colors are vivid and fine.  The condition of these prints is good, on contemporary creamy paper that is a soft aged white, with no foxing.

This plate measure approximately 5 3/4 inches wide by 9 3/4 inches long.

All our prints are authentic hand colored antique prints, and the Lemaire are about 200 years old & in remarkable condition.

We describe all items as accurately as possible with any condition exceptions noted. Please use your judgement to confirm our accuracy and take into consideration that unless otherwise stated, these items are used. Please make careful decisions before bidding and email us with any questions.
