<<Description>>
I never understood why nobody had ever heard of this band. They opened for Slayer in 94 just after this album and they have a pretty unique sound. If it was good enough for Jeff Hannemen its probably good enough for you. Deep from the pill and powder covered pits comes -(16)-... the band everybody should know about but unfortunately nobody knows about.

Maybe because they abuse vocal distortion effects worse than Cher or have fairly bizarre lyrical subject matter like something from William S. Burroughs but something about them rubs people the wrong way but its in that riff laden over the top style that truly makes them what they are...and I really don't know what that is. This album is too fast to call sludge but too heavy to call anything else. Constant riffs bombard your ears, weaving between bass intros and breaks, the stop and go style of this album reminds me of BL'AST or Black Flag. These guys play pretty tight often adding drum fills or odd tempo changes. The lyrics are audible but the vocals are heavily distorted at all times but shifts between different levels of intensity.

These damn hiccups
Are bringing me down
I'm tired of reasons
It's time to fist fight
Old men and women
Sleep in the park
Then young children steal their stuff
(excerpt from Grandpa's Chair)

Total bizarre surreal magic. Its hard to pallet but if you have a taste for Helmet or Fudge Tunnel these guys are your wet dream. You will not regret picking up this album. I have spent many a night with this album, Drop Out (The second full length album) and Scott Case (A compilation of real early stuff) on repeat. - Metal Archives
