I was very fortnate to have been offered a collection of these wonderful Tambor lace curtains and textiles. This is one from the collection. To view the others from this collection simply search my store for the words " Cornely lace "
This texitle is from France and dates form the late 1800's to early 1900's ~ C1900 a beautiful whitework hand embroidered cornelli lace work Chateau window length Curtain.Entirely hand stitched onto a fine Indian muslin ground and hand embroidered in cotton with trailing floral motifs worked in chain stitch. I love the many patterns these reveal~ This textile is elegant and rare ~ These curtains were highly popular in France in the 19th and early 20th century. Because they are so light , they do not often survive without signs of time and use ~ They are wonderful to mix and match and of course two cafe curtains can be made from one long curtain ~~ time to get creative!
