Very scarce illustrated work of 1647 by the italian Byshop, letterate, and hystorian Giacomo Filippo Tomasini (Padova 1595-Cittanova d'Istria 1655), writer of important works. Tomasini became famous because he collected biographies to collect biographies of the most important letterate of the past.
After the plague epidemy of 1633 he lived in Cortelà, in Colli Euganei where he wrote some of his most important works.
This scarce work is a collection of 129 plates of engravings of importnat men and monuments. The greatest part are calcographies, the minimal part are woodcuts. Portraits engraved by H. David and Giovanni Georgi.
Very beautiful allegorical view of San Giorgio in Alga, different views of Arquà, il Tempio di Monte Ottone, Valchiusa. Tra i personaggi ritratti: Ulario, Lelio Biscia, Rodolfo Sforza, Francesco Petrarca, Alessandro Carrerio, Paolo Gualdo, Tycho Brahe, Giovanni Francesco Ottobono, Menochio, Fallopio, Massaria, Mercuriale, Campolongo, Francesco Piccolomini, Giacomo Zabarella, Speronio, Magini, Tasso, Riccobono, Laura Sada, Zabarella ecc...

Half leather coeval cover with gilted title and decorations in the spine with wearings and lackings. Binding in fair conditions, the body of the book almost totally detached. Pages in good conditions with occasional foxing. Some signs of coloured pencil in the verso of plate of Speroni and in recto of Tomitano. In 8. Dim. 21,5x16 cm. Pp. (2)+18+129.
