Maya terracotta Bat fragment measures 2 inches x 1  3/8 inches. Vestiges of red finish (could be the original red slip finish). Wings were broken off long ago, concave back. Appears to be a spout that was once attached to a vessel of some sort. 

I purchased it at Artesanias Candú in Tegucigalpa when I was a Peace Corps volunteer in Honduras from 1976-1981. At the time Candú sold Maya artifacts as they were located near the Hotel Maya. Contemporary farmers would plow up artifacts and sell them to the Artesanias Candú in the city since tourists shopped there.
