AN ORIGINAL WWII ADMIRALTY PATTERN  W1274A, INTERMEDIATE "HEATHER" SIGNAL LANTERN.

In excellent, used condition as images having minor overall wear from active service use.

Used on smaller Royal Navy launches and submarines as a surface signal lantern during night service action.

The "Heather" lantern was designed and patented by Rear Admiral Derreck Heatherington in 1941 and was manufactured by the British Thomson Houston Company based in Rugby.

The rubber eyepiece is intact but perished, and the lamp does not have a bulb.

Bulbs can be found, and these lanterns can be converted for modern decorative use if so desired.
