The Vitruvian Man is a drawing by Italian Renaissance artist and scientist Leonardo da Vinci, dated around 1490. Inspired by the works of the ancient Roman architect Vitruvius The design depicts a naked man in two positions, one on top of the other, with arms and legs outstretched, and inscribed in both a circle and a square.
The image illustrates Vitruvius's main idea about the ideal body: Height should correspond to the length of outstretched arms.
