This scarce Vermont general store wooden match safe dates from around the turn of the century and is in good shape for its age and ready to ship. Measuring approximately 6" tall, it reads "Thos H Moore General Merchandise, Hardware, Clothing, Dry Goods, Groceries, Hats, Caps and Shoes Plymouth Union VT" at the top. It has a wooden barrel which would hold the matches and a striker on the bottom. Plymouth Vermont is a very small town located in the mountains of Vermont and any antique advertising items from places like this is very scarce. We have never seen anything from this particular merchant before and couldn't find any history on Thomas H Moore's store although we did find a lot of information about him and his families history in Vermont. A really neat antique Vermont General Store item that displays very well! What a great item!
