Original binding. Bound in full leather with a leather spine label, gilt title, gilt ruled outside edges of boards, and five raised bands. There is splitting between spine and covers, but book is held together well at the cords. Front gutter shows all the way along spine, back gutter only shows at the top and bottom edges. Internally excellent with bright white clean pages. Binding is tight and square. Illustrated with many images from woodcuts, borders and tail pieces. Printed on high quality rag paper, and dyed red on the page edges. 9.5 x 7 inches with 400 and 170 pages respectively. First edition, thus.
