You’ll be hard pressed to find a better-known racehorse than Secretariat.

Affectionately known as “Big Red,” the chestnut stallion raced into the hearts of a nation in 1973’s Kentucky Derby, which he not only won, but set a speed record of 1:59 2/5, which still stands today! After handily winning the Preakness Stakes – and again setting a record – he continued on to make his biggest splash yet at the Belmont Stakes. Secretariat not only became the first horse to win the Triple Crown in 25 years, but he also won the race by a world-record 31 lengths!

Secretariat forever cemented his name – as well as the names of his owner Penny Chenery, jockey Ron Turcotte, and trainer Lucien Laurin – into racing history.

2023 marks the 50th anniversary of Secretariat’s iconic Triple Crown win. .

This is truly a special piece for the Secretariat fan!
