YANKEE DOODLE DANDY.
1942 (In COLOR)

starring
James Cagney, Joan Leslie & Walter Huston.

In his triumphant. Oscar winning role, James Cagney stars as the damnedest patriotic man in the country," Broadway's legendary great, George M. Cohan. Brimming with exuberant song-and-dance routines and spectacular production numbers. Yankee Doodle Dandy also serves as a colourful account of a burgeoning theatrical era that spans from vaudeville to Broadway. Born on the Fourth of July George M. Cohan's amazing career spanned 55 years on stage and the writing of more than 35 plays and 500 songs. "Harrigan," Give My Regards to Broadway, and of course, "Yankee Doodle Dandy" are among the many Cohan tunes performed with Cagney's imitable flair and strutting style, premiered in 1942, this war-time salute to patriotism had American audiences on their feet cheering the "Grand Old Flag." Still as fresh as ever, Yankee Doodle Dandy will forever remain a complete delight.

Running Time 127 minutes.

YANKEE DOODLE DANDY, was first colorized back in 1986. And released onto the home video market (VHS, Betamax etc) consequently these are the source of the colorized versions that are doing the rounds now. Which leave much to be desired as to the clarity and playback quality.

The version we offer here is a totally new 2023 ai colorization, although the colours maybe more subdued (this seems to be the preference these days) then the 80s colorization the clarity and playback quality of the new ai version is excellent.
