This is a vintage antique sample of barbed wire fencing.   This sample features a Joseph Glidden patent dated February 08, 1876.   This wire is called "Glidden's Four Point Barb on Twisted Triangle Line" by collectors. (ref Hagemeier 142-B).  This wire features a heavy gauge triangular line wire, which is factory twisted.  Barbs are four pointed made from two round barbing wires wrapped together around the line wire. Wire sample shows light to moderate pitting.  There are three barbs.  Barbs may show some slippage, but cut is well centered.  These may have one broken point.
