Anne Bourassa's piece is a more modern interpretation of Gustav Klimt's 1907 work, Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer. In Bourassa's work the woman is wrapped in fabric that most closely resembles the aesthetic of a lot of African textiles mixed with American folk art influences. Bourassa pays homage to the beauty and the spirit of Klimt's work but by offering her own style and careful considering she allows the piece to stand on its own and not just a mere copy of the original.
