RARE vintage 1977Japanese Mattel Barbie clothing set #2226 NRFB! This is a Japanese release of the "Barbie Best Buy #2226" yellow floral peasant dress with vest. This is a unique international release, as this item was NOT distributed by Takara or Bandai, and was distributed directly by Mattel with new packaging and graphics for the Japanese market. This includes the unique Peter Max meets art nouveau Barbie logo. The dress displays well for its age, showing little to no age related discoloration, however the heels has been damaged due to crushing / flattening. The box shows wear, with crushing damage, resulting in dings, dents, and large patches of color breaking veins. The box also shows some age related foxing discoloration. Overall a fantastic and rare addition to any foreign issue Barbie collection!
