New York: "Polky," who, because he is a giraffe, had to get his neck as well as his legs accustomed to the motion of the sea, arrived in New York today (Sept. 28) after a six-week sea trip from Monbasa, South Africa. "Polky" is shown "rubber-necking" aboard the SS Styiles, ship which carried him to America. He is destined for the Memphis Zoo, where he will join Dot, his promised bride.Photo measures 9 x 7.25 inches. Photo is dated 09-28-1945.
