A wonderful RARE color of French ticking! This piece dates from around the 1930's and I've never seen this color before!~This ticking fabric was the work horse fabric of that day! it's a sky blue tone with creamy white stripes! It's a heavy weight cotton fabric! This piece was once used as a mattress cover fabric, you can see the old stitches in places! It needs a good wash, so just wash on warm, normal detergent and then tumble it dry! Very very durable! There may be some marks that don't fully wash, but they should wash well! Maybe put a scoop of Oxywhite in with the wash! ( I swear by Oxywhite! )

MEASUREMENTS : This fabric measures : 4.3 yards long by 49 inches wide!

CONDITION : This fabric is unwashed as found, and needs to be machine washed and tumbled dry! This piece has signs of time and use often inherent in these vintage fabrics ! Please use the zoom feature to see exactly ~ Not perfect, but perfectly lovely ~ condition reflected in the price ~

*The Word ticking is derived from the Latin word for case, Tica. Ticking fabric was used for creating mattress, as the European bedding system of old, consisted of many layers of textiles stuffed with straw and fodder at the bottom, and topped with a dense denim ( ticking) for the top layers, stuffed with feathers. The fabric came to be known as denim, as Nimes , France was one of the great producers of this ticking fabric...denim ( de Nimes! ) ~ a wonderful fabric for many projects. A wonderful, historical fabric.
