This is a set of 4 First Day of Issue covers for the 4 stamps, issued on March 23, 1990, that honored four of America's greatest movies - all released in 1939!

Gone with the Wind, a movie treatment of Margaret Mitchell's Civil War-era novel, may well be the most-viewed movie in history. It's still the all-time box office champion in inflation-adjusted dollars.

The Wizard of Oz, from the novel by L. Frank Baum, made Judy Garland a star and may be the most beloved film of all time.

Beau Geste is the quintessential action film about the French Foreign Legion.

Stagecoach revived the movie Western, made John Wayne a star, and began Wayne's long partnership with director John Ford.

These 4 covers are fresh, clean, and unaddressed, with colorful, hand-painted cachets by Collins.  The design is vertical, not the usual horizontal. Each is cancelled with the First Day of Issue cancel from New York on March 29, 2001.
