9 by 5 1/2 inches.  Hardback in the original publishers green cloth boards with blind stamped and gilt decoration to the front and back boards.  624 pages, including index. Some very slight soiling to the boards and light wear to the board edges and corners. The signature of a previous owner "William Martine" and date "1847" to the front free endpaper.  Above this in pencil is "Recieved April 1847 M??".  A few slight spots and crinkles to the rear of the front free endpaper, half title, title, and first page of text.  Some occasional spotting to pages edges and the odd faint patch within text but overall bright and clean.  A small split to the top of the rear endpaper guttering paper but scrim not affected and boards secure.
