Description:

An antique novelty silver bookmark modelled as a cricket bat made by Joseph Willmore (Bread Street, Birmingham). 

Weighs 13.8 grams.


Identifying Marks / Makers Marks: Stamped with the lion passant (silver), King's Head (William IV Coronation stamp), "H" (1831), an anchor (Birmingham) and "JW" (maker Joseph Willmore). The maker's mark is partially obscured. 

Age / date of manufacture:

1831.

Size: Measures 3 15/16" (10 cm) long and is 1/2" (1.25 cm) across the flat page marker blade.

Condition: In excellent undamaged condition. Has a small fold / crease in the silver on the flat top of the handle, this happened during the manufacturing process (please see the last photograph). Has been used so has some fine surface marks on the silver but no splits or dents (please see the photographs).
