A significant piece of history in an old Hennessy cognac brandy bottle! Age undetermined.

This is a vintage item inscribed on base of ship 'HMS ALBION 1855' along with another word beginning PO ... believed to be POW (Prisoner of War).

The ship has been sealed in the bottle ... there is a little (glue?) residue inside the glass neck as shown.

As you can see from the photos, the attention to detail is incredible, with extensive rigging across the three masts and flying the red ensign or Red Duster flag as it is known.

More detail on HMS Albion may be found on its Wikipedia page. Built in 1842 it was a 90 gun second rate ship of the line of the Royal Navy. On October 17th 1854 HMS Albion joined over 50 British & French warships in an initial sea bombardment of Sevastopol.

The bottle measures almost 10" long and sits on a wooden stand.

Please take a look at the photos carefully as they form part of the description. I would be pleased to hear from anyone with knowledge of such items who can shed more light on it.

Other ships may be found in my listings. I am selling an old collection.
