After an international competition, Poland chose a modified version of BAE Systems Land Systems' (formerly RO Defense) Braveheart 155mm/52 self-propelled artillery mount to meet its army's future requirements for self-propelled artillery.

This is a turret with a 155 mm cannon and a 52 caliber barrel, which was mounted on a Polish chassis designed and manufactured by OBRUM, with the Polish company HSW being selected as the general contractor for series production of the entire system. The self-propelled gun was named KRAB.
