Why You Want a Snell SA2020 Helmet

Snell's latest safety rating, SA2020, supersedes the most recent certification, which was the SA2015 helmet. Currently, 2021 is considered a "transition year" and many sanctioning bodies, including IMCA, WISSOTA, SCCA, NHRA, and others, will allow the use of older helmets through a specific period. The SA2015 helmets are expected to expire at the end of 2026. IMCA currently allows the use of a SA2010 or SA2015 helmet, but we strongly encourage you to confirm with the track or event sanctioning body for any specific safety equipment rules. All that said, Snell highly encourages racers to replace their helmets with a Snell rating every five years.
