INTRODUCTION

THE MAN WHO BUILT THE STONE CASTLE
In celebrating the first hundred years of
Meagher County
1867 to 1967

Few men are more deserving honor posthumous, than
Byron Roger Sherman
1841 to 1926

Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, in his
A Psalm of Life
Lives of great men all remind us
We can make our lives sublime,
And, departing, leave behind us
Footprints on the sands of time.

Longfellow has given all young people a good
design to follow through life.
Byron Roger Sherman has shown us one way how
it is gone.
In my youth, I knew Sherman very well;  and with
the research I have made, I hope you'll get a good
"reflection" of his character and life in White Sulphur
Springs, Meagher County, Montana.

Yours sincerely,
TAYLOR GORDON
