Originally published in ''Le Costume Historique'' c.1888 by M.A. Racinet (1825–1893), a French costume historian, illustrator, painter, and the author of books on costumes and ornaments. Engraved by Firmin Didot (1764 – 1836), a French printer, engraver, and type founder. Published by The Schmidt Lithography Company was based in San Francisco.
