Third generation Yamada Jozan
My real name is Minoru. He learned pottery from Tsuneyama Yamada I, who was said to be a master craftsman, since he was a boy. From around 1945, he took the name of his father, Kotsuneyama, and after his death, he became the third generation Tsuneyama.

It is said that the teapots made by the three generations come in over 100 shapes, from classic to modern, and the possibilities are endless.

In 1994, he was designated as a holder of an intangible cultural property by Aichi Prefecture for his red clay teapot, and in 1998, he was recognized as the first nationally designated holder of an important intangible cultural property living national treasure in Aichi Prefecture for his Tokoname ware teapot . Inheriting the 1000 year tradition and history of Tokoname ware.

Born in 1924 in Tokoname City, Aichi Prefecture.
1941: Graduated from Aichi Prefectural Tokoname Technical School Ceramics Department
Studied under his grandfather, Tsuneyama Yamada I, while still in school.
1946: Studied under his father, Tsuneyama Yamada II
1958: Selected for the 5th Japan Traditional Crafts Exhibition for the first time
Grand Prix winner at the Brussels World Expo
1959: 7th Living Crafts Exhibition, 1st place, Asahi Prize winner
1961: Third generation Tsuneyama Yamada succeeded to the name1973: Received the highest honorary award at the 3rd Biennale International Ceramics Exhibition in France / Traveled to Europe
1975 Chairman of the Tokoname Handmade Teapot Association present
1990 Heart and Skills Exhibition of Traditional Craft Masterpieces

1993 1993 Received the Japan Ceramic Association Award
1994: Certified as a holder of intangible cultural property by Aichi Prefecture.
