"FAVELA NARCO PETS," published as a zine 3 part by Pouria Khojastehpay's publishing label 550 BC, has now been consolidated into a hardcover edition.

The idea for this book was derived from the 2020 publication FAVELA MAFIA and was intended to shed light on the more light-hearted and entertaining aspects of Rio de Janeiro's notorious criminal groups, particularly Comando Vermelho (CV) and Terceiro Comando Pro (TCP).

While these criminal groups are primarily known for fighting each other over turf and engaging in antisocial enterprises such as drug trafficking, arms trafficking and racketeering for a living, they are also occasionally involved in the trade of rare exotic animals, which is important to recognize as intersecting with their customary activities.

Occasionally, members associated with CV and TCP obtain rare animals and use them as symbolic trophies and valuable resources within crime circles.
