1968 Press Photo Michael Burke pays tribute to award winning Mariane Moore in NY

Miss Mariane Moore holds the National Medal for Literature which she received at the annual meeting of the National Book Committee, sponsors of the award, in New York. The 81-year-old poetess said "my writing is a result of gratitude...I do not see why gratitude should be given a medal." With her is Michael Burke, President of the New York Yankees, who joined in paying tribute to Miss Moore. Photo measures 8 x 9 inches. Photo is dated 12-11-1968.
