The Defence Passive was formed in 1938 by the French Government to make preparations for defending the nation during airstrikes or invasion, such as preparing bomb shelters and warning networks in an attempt to keep the people of France free. They were very similar to the Civil Defence and air raid wardens of Britain except in France.

This helmet is a white Adrian style helmet issued to a member of the Defence Passive. Upon the helmet is the symbol of a red cross as well as the letters "D.P" for Defence Passive.

Regarding wear and tear, the helmet has scratching and a few minor dents which are hard to see. This wear and tear is due to age and usage. Unfortunately the helmet is missing the liner. Apart from that, this helmet is in relatively good condition.

This helmet is a very unique, fascinating piece of history that would perfect any collection of WW2 militaria. It is particularly interesting for those who are interested in the Battle for France and civil defence.
