These are pieces of history. They are wooden
shoe molds from the 1900’s. They are made of beech and were used by the cobbler
to make custom handmade shoes. Leather was stretched over this mold and then
attached to the bottom with nails. These molds come in different shapes and
sizes. The top piece of wood can be removed from the base piece to remove
the mold from the finished shoe.
BENEFITS - These molds would make a great
display for your home, office, or store. They are a great conservation piece.
They remind us of the days when cobblers would hand make shoes with personal
care and attention. You can put them on a vintage display shelf. Use as
farmhouse décor, or a primitive display. However, you use them, enjoy.
Did you know that prior to the civil war shoes
were not made for the right or left side but were made from one last that were
worn on either side.
