1950s Yonezawa Japan Tin DC-7C SAS Scandinavian Airlines System Toy Plane - RARE.

RARELY SEEN VERSION: Multi-action tin battery-operated toy plane which was made in Japan by Yonezawa in circa 1958.

This is one of the largest tin planes ever made with a huge wingspan of 59cm.

THIS PARTICULAR SAS VARIATION IS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO FIND.

In action the in-board propellers start to rotate, then the out-board propellers start to rotate, the plane has stop and go drive, while the upper light blinks, then the plane stops, the cabin door opens, and the flight attendant comes in and out as the passengers disappear and reappear at the windows in the lighted cabin section. Also has realistic sound.

After testing the plane with batteries, it does exactly as described above and is in FULLY WORKING condition.

This historic DC-7 was the first prop plane to fly over the North Pole in 1957 from the US and Japan, shortening flight times dramatically. Please note the inscription above the passenger door, "First Over the Pole".

The overall condition of this awesome plane is good for its age but it does have a few signs of play wear, scratches and light trace of rust around the front wheel section. The plane still has its original SAS passenger boarding stairs which are usually missing which is in very good condition. Please note there are 3 propeller blades missing (one from 3 different propellers). The wings detach for storage.

Approx. 54cm long and 59cm wide.

Requires 3 x D cell batteries (not included).
