Сборник выпущен весной 1924 года к юбилею самого крупного на тот момент советского издательского
объединения и по совместительству идеологического монстра. Появившийся в ходе слияния нескольких
издательств ГИЗ, помимо собственно издательских функций, стал осуществлять контроль над другими
издательствами, распределял заказы на типографские работы и бумагу, оставив наркоматам и ведомствам
право выпуска лишь специальной литературы. В отдельные годы на его долю приходилось до 60-70%
выпущенной в стране литературы.
The collection was published in the spring of 1924 for the anniversary of the largest Soviet publishing house
