Mossant Heather Trilby Size 7 1/8 Alpine Dark Green Colour

Ref DI5

Vintage French Mossant Trilby ** I have other hats on other listings. Automatic discount for multiple purchases ** The felt of this hat has been made in the 'heather' style so that there are flecks of grey and brown on the hat which is predominantly dark green. Do see the photos for closeups of this felt, as the hairs are also of different lengths rather than a smooth finish like felt made in the 'velour' style. This is a quality trilby with an overwelt edge. The felt is thick but supple and curls easily. There is cord instead of ribbon which has been wound around 4 times and then the ends looped, which I believe is called 'Alpine' style. This hat is unlined with a crown stamp. The 1 1/2” or 3.8cm sweatband is brown thick quality leather-type, and embossed upon it are RB initials , and the shop stamp. The shop is Bruyas, 22 Rue de Rivoli, Paris, Chapelier Specialiste . Maison fondee en 1882 The sweat band is sewn with zigzag stitch. The under sweatband labels show the size 5 (which is metric 57) No 294 and Ref 28024, and the colour to be Ecos Menthe Size US 7 1/8, UK 7 , Euro 5 , Metric 57 Colour: Dark green almost black, with flecks Dimensions: Internal length 7 6/8" or 19.6cm Width 6 1/2 ” or 16.5cm Brim including curl 1 3/4” or 4.4 cm Open Crown 5” or 12.7cm Condition: The hat is in really great condition. Most of the items that I list will be vintage or used, so may show signs of their previous history, which is the whole charm of these pre-loved items. If you are looking for a pristine, unused item, then my finds are probably not for you. I do my best to describe their condition accurately. Generally I find that these items have been cherished possessions at a time when people did not live in such a throwaway society, so they made things to last, and took care of them.
