The floral foam has been used once but is perfectly good for continued use.

 Floral foam is used to keep real flowers moist,  Simply add water after your arrangement.  The foam can also be used to hold artificial flowers in place.  The foam is in a plastic liner that can be removed.

This vase is very heavy for its size.  That is a big help to keep it from being accidently knocked over.
