Description:
Original aquatint etching by noted US artist, Andrew Rush.  It is titled "Lady J". Rush studied in Florence, Italy in 1958 and this portrait shows a distinct Florentine influence in its style.  The framed piece is approximately 21.5"  X 17.5".  The visible art measures 13.75" X 10.5".  This piece was done in the last part of the 1960s, sold in Tucson, AZ, and has been owned by the same woman for about 55 years. It is signed by the artist and titled in the bottom margin. It is marked by Rush as an artist's proof (A/P).  I note no damage, no fading, no stains. The frame is very lightly scuffed as is to be expected.

Note: I have one other small work by Andrew Rush.  I can list it for you if you would like to see it.
Brief bio of the artist.
Andrew Rush studied with printmaker Lee Chesney at the University of Illinois and received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with honors in 1953. He studied printmaking with Mauricio Lasansky at the University of Iowa, earning his Master of Fine Arts degree in 1958. That same year he received a Fulbright Grant to study printmaking in Florence, Italy.
Rush was an Associate Professor of Art at the University of Arizona between 1959 and 1969, where he founded the printmaking program. He was co-director of the Rockefeller Foundation Indian Arts Project between 1960 and 1964. He has been a visiting artist or an artist-in-residence at Ohio State University, the University of Arkansas, and Colorado College.
In 1968, Rush helped found the arts community of Rancho Linda Visa by converting a defunct dude ranch in Oracle, Arizona. Over fifty years later it is still a thriving arts community.
