It was issued without a dust-jacket.
In the successor volume, Maurice Gorham noted that the unsold copies of ‘The Local’, together with its printed sheets and plates, “went up together in the burning of Cassell’s premises in Belle Sauvage Yard”.
The book has a Glossary which provides a fascinating contrast with today’s pubs.
There is also a Postscript mentioning the changes that have have come about since the book was written in peace time and is published in war time
