N Gauge complete rolling stock, Deutsche Bundesbahn Type 403 Lufthansa Airport Express 4-car set.

●Flight at zero altitude

The Lufthansa Airport Express was a train operated by major airline Lufthansa German Airlines, which chartered trains from the Deutsche Bundesbahn (DB).

Because it was operated as an alternative to short-haul routes, it was treated as an "air service" and required an air ticket to board.

It operated from 1982 to 1993, connecting Düsseldorf Airport and Frankfurt Airport (Düsseldorf line) in about 2.5 hours.

Onboard service was provided by Lufthansa cabin crews, not DB crews, and the service was equivalent to that of airplanes, including in-flight meals.

The service was well received by passengers, and they were able to enjoy the formality of old castles and other sites along the Rhine River that cannot be seen by air.

Type 403 was the forerunner of today's ICE trains.

In 1973, three trains of 12 cars were introduced for Intercity service.

In 1979, it was withdrawn from regular operation and used for wave operation, but in 1982 it returned to regular operation on the "Lufthansa Airport Express".

In 1982, it returned to regular service on the "Lufthansa Airport Express" service, and its body was redesigned in yellow and white, the corporate colors of Deutsche Lufthansa AG.

In 1993, the train was retired due to aging.

The train is basically operated in 4-car formation, but depending on demand, intermediate cars and formations can be added or removed, such as 3-car to 7-car formations.

The train is operated with the pantograph of the last car in the direction of travel raised.

By replacing the couplers with the included ones, the coupling spacing can be adjusted to suit your layout.
