Untitled 2

ANTIQUE EDWARDIAN AMETHYST INTAGLIO SEAL RING DATED 1915

An exquisite antique intaglio ring from the early 20th Century bezel set with a wonderful, high-relief intaglio seal carved from a transparent violet amethyst (approx. 3ct).

The Intaglio depicts the profile of a man with a helmet, possibly a Roman legionary or God. It was likely a signature emblem that could be stamped into sealing wax on important documents, or even love letters to a distant sweetheart.

It’s fashioned in 9ct gold with split shoulders and clear Chester hallmarks within the band, dating to 1915. It’s highly collectable and in excellent condition.
