F.W. Murnau, creator of silent classics 'Nosferatu', 'Metropolis' and 'Sunrise', directs this study of the fragile marriage between a country boy and a city girl. During a trip to Chicago, innocent farmer's son Lem (Charles Farrell) falls in love with and marries Kate (Mary Duncan), a streetwise but lonely waitress.
