Joe Rosenthal [1911 2006] was an American Associated Press photographer who received the Pulitzer Prize for his iconic World War II photograph of the Flag raising on Mt. Suribachi during the Battle of Iwo Jima. The image taken by Rosenthal became one of the best-known photographs of World War II. The display is centered around a beautiful, colorized image of Joe Rosenthal's iconic flag raising photograph taken on the island of Iwo Jima on February 23, 1945. The photograph is a quality color which measures 10.00 x 8.00 inches. Mounted next to the image is his autograph of Joe Rosenthal signed on a commemorative cover.
