A Circa 1929 MARITIME CELESTIAL NAVIGATIONAL SEXTANT, SN 11974, signed C. Plath, Hamburg. Includes a custom fitted mahogany wooden carrying case.

Attached to the inside lid of the carrying case is a Certification Document issued on 29 April 1929, verifying the operability and accuracy of this sextant by the Government of Germany
This is a navigator’s lattice frame sextant containing a sighting mechanism consisting of index and horizontal mirrors with a set of 7 glass sunshades.
Included is the original telescope and threaded eyepiece with an adjustable mounting support bracket
At
the base of the sextant there is a brass metal frame radius with
a stamped scale containing graduated degree markings
Included is a steel vernier with readout window, contains an
adjustment knob that is a fine adjustment for fractional degrees, and a spring loaded securing clamp.
On the back of sextant is a wooden carrying handle which is, also, used to secure the sextant to the carrying case.
The sextant serial number, 11974, is located on the left side of the scale .
On the last photo , one can notice a small glass burst on the lens. This does not affect at all the optics when looking through the telescope
