I found this at a local estate auction: a small bowl made in Brazil with a vivid design made of butterfly wings!  This may have been a tourist keepsake from a trip; I estimate it dates to the 1950-70 era, with a geometric design.  It alternates yellow and brown/orange wing with brilliant blue: the color has quite a flash to it, as I hope to show in the photos.  This is a shallow bowl that is backed in what I believe is chrome backing with a faint concentric ring pattern on the back and a foot.  There is an inset for a hanging loop if you prefer to hang it on the wall.  There is a paper label saying 'Brasil.'

These are made from the wings of dead butterflies, so do not worry that live ones were destroyed to make it.  This is in very good condition and has a beautiful vivid color to it.  It will look great on a table or on your dresser or in a shelf or wall vignette.
