Port Authority Food Services
This rare WTC visitor pass comes to you estate-fresh from a northern New Jersey home we recently helped liquidate. The original owner, now deceased, worked for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, the company that owned the Twin Towers and surrounding properties.
This pass is one of five sequentially dated ones that we're offering on eBay right now. Each paper pass was dot matrix printed and is attached to its original paper backing with printer feed side holes.
This is how they were originally issued. These were never laminated or the like. Overall nice vintage condition with good coloring on the text and building logo at center. Some light general age wear.
My theory (and it's just that) is that these are from either 1984 or 1989 and here's why.
The first four are dated 12/27 thru 12/30. I'm imagining that those fall on a Tuesday thru Friday. There is no pass for 12/31 (a Saturday) and no pass for 01/01 (a Sunday). Since Jan. 1st falls on a Sunday, it's a public holiday and is observed (as in you have the day off) on Monday, Jan 2nd (no pass for that day). The final pass is dated 01/03 which would be a Tuesday (as in back to work). This date sequence falls in 1984 and 1989.
In any case good luck finding these passes any time soon.
