Background To Issue: The design featured the relevant medals against a photograph of the Korean landscape taken at the 38th parallel which is the current dividing line between North and South Korea. The gutter strip illustrated the Australian Active Service Medal 1945-75, the Korea medal ( a British Commonwealth decoration), and the United Nations Service Medal (Korea).
