- This A-2 leather jacket is reproduced by "Buzz Rickson's", based on the Rough Wear vintage jacket. The original leather jacket of this A-2 is the second model made by Rough Wear, which filled a total of five contracts for the military. The company's distinctive features began to appear in its jackets at this time, such as the large collar and the symmetrical body that disregarded the placket, forcing the pattern to be made into a placket. Although the actual jacket produced at the time was made of russet brown goatskin, mustang hide is compatible for the wild form of Rough Wear's A-2. The leather is made from Italian raw hides that are carefully tanned over a period of several months with an astringent fluid extracted from the bark of trees and then finished with a pigment dye. The horsehide, sealed in reddish brown coloring, expands and contracts repeatedly, revealing the mustang's original appearance.
