MERCEDES E300 BLUETEC SELF CHARGING HYBRID
● For the past 18 months, this has been my own daily-driver and it has been absolutely superb, offering the perfect balance between economy and performance. It also means you never have range anxiety - which is why I would recommend this car over a full electric car in the current climate.
● This is a self-charging hybrid, so no plugging it in at night and no range anxiety. It produces its own electric power by recycling the wasted energy from breaking and coasting - it then uses this energy to save you fuel - It's superb and has been averaging around 50mpg in the time I've had it.
● The car switches between electric and diesel seamlessly and does this itself. At low speeds it is almost always be in electric mode (so you can get a small bit of your journey for free!) and it starts in electric form so you how no diesel chatter in the mornings. You can drive through the Drive Thru in silence and of course you are never wasting energy by idling the diesel engine. Its slso very quiet when you return home and park onto the drive - the neighbors will love it!
● As you press the throttle, the diesel engine will kick in and give you the majority of the power. 0-60mph takes just 7.5 seconds and this is a genuine 140mph car. It drives just like a conventional diesel Mercedes a majority of the time - But when you are coasting or cruising on flat or slight downhill sections, the car will switch to its electric motor, essentially meaning you get a bit of your journey for free. You barely notice this, apart from the silence..
● In short - This car is fantastic to own, easy to live with and very economical - I will miss it!

The E-Class has always been one of my favorite luxury saloons and with this engine it is even more irresistible - giving you all the luxury you expect from this marque with effortless performance and refinement. Hybrid-drive only goes to enhance the luxury on offer as this car is able to glide away silently and can actually maintain speeds up to 70mph in complete silence using the electric motor. Inside, you are greeted by soft black leather, which suits the E-Classes executive image perfectly and makes the car look modern and tasteful. Luxury extras include heated front seats which have electric adjustment for both their height and backrest, bluetooth telephone and audio streaming. This model features front and rear park-distance sensors which are a useful extra if you ever park in a tight spot giving both audio and visual aid for tight maneuvers. Cruise control makes this a relaxing cruiser while dual-zone climate-controlled air-conditioning gives you separate temperature controls for passenger and driver.
With a combined power output of 228bhp, the E-Class hybrid offers superb performance (0-60mpg in 7.5 secs/ max 150 mph). The 7 speed 7G-Tronic transmission offers smooth and fast changes and has flappy paddles on the steering wheel, for when you wish to control the gears manually. The driving position is excellent, and visibility is superb. Being a Mercedes, this car oozes quality and feels as though it has been built to last. With ABS brakes and ESP stability and traction control the E-Class is not just a pretty face - it offers superb handling and roadholding which are guaranteed to please the keen driver, as well as those who want comfort and luxury. I love the small details which adorn this car. I particularly enjoyed this cars cruise control which helps provide the E-Class with the ability to cover long distances in complete relaxation - There is even a speed limiter function to help you resist temptation
