Artwork Description:

Marco Alex is known for his impressionistic realism style, but occasionally he ventures outside of this comfort zone to create pieces like "Queen of Egypt." This oil painting is a fantasy portrait of an Egyptian woman in his unique neo-pharaohnic style, drawing inspiration from ancient Egyptian art. However, he deviates from the traditional warm earth tones of ancient Egyptian art, instead opting for a modern cubist Picasso palette reminiscent of his blue period. If you appreciate ancient Egyptian culture, consider adding this modern interpretation by an Egyptian American artist to your collection.

About the Artist:

My artistic journey began amidst the bustling streets of New York City, a place of vibrant energy and stark solitude. This duality is reflected in my work, where I draw inspiration from the cityscapes and the introspective human experience.

Early on, I was captivated by the evocative power of Edward Hopper's work. My paintings explored themes of loneliness, with solitary figures bathed in light and shadow, hinting at unspoken stories within the urban environment. I experimented across mediums, utilizing oils, acrylics, and photography to capture these poignant moments.

Recently, my artistic vision has begun to evolve. While the influence of the city and the human form remain present, I'm increasingly drawn to explore a wider range of emotions and themes. My palette is expanding, incorporating a broader spectrum of colors, and my subject matter is diversifying to include still-life, seascapes, and landscapes.

Throughout this exploration, my focus on creating a unique and evocative style remains constant. I strive to capture the essence of a scene, a moment, or an emotion through expressive brushstrokes, captivating light play, and a touch of realism that is distinctly my own.

As a rising artist, this growth and exploration are ongoing.  I am a passionate artist constantly striving to refine my voice and connect with viewers on a deeper level.  Having exhibited at a reputable New York City gallery, I am actively seeking gallery representation to share my evolving body of work with a wider audience.  As a collector of my art, you are not only acquiring a piece, but investing in the artistic journey of a dedicated artist on the rise.
